IMG Quickie: Log in to XP Automatically on boot-up

15 May, 2007 How-To, Quickies, Tips, XP

Difficulty Rating:

Difficulty: 1.5

Do you hate logging into your home computer? Skip this step and have your computer log itself in each time as you.

AutologonClick “Start”

Click “Run”

Type
“control userpasswords2”

Click “OK”

Un-tick “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.”

Click “OK”

Enter the user-name and password you would like to login as.

Click “OK”

When you restart, you will no longer be prompted to enter your user-name and password.

Of course there are security issues with this, but in a home environment I wouldn’t think it could be a major concern.
