Dave, it should sync up with Outlook. Check that the same content is in outlook contacts as on the HTC. It will be fairly quick over USB. Bluetooth takes a bit longer.

Do you use Outlook? If you use anohter program for your mail, or a web based option, there are other ways to go about it. WMDC is designed to work solely with Outlook though. Check that there are the same amount of contacts in Outlook as your HTC for a quick comparison.

Chris:

Thanks for the info! I tried it with my HTC6800 to sync/backup my contacts and it says it has synced successfully - but it completed immediately so I'm doubtful it actually backed them up (I have 300+ contacts). I can't find any contact files on my PC - but admittedly don't know exactly where they might be. Any ideas how I can verify if it really backed up my contacts? I'd really be up a creek if I lose/break this phone before getting my contacts backed up. Of course I'm not even sure if this would allow me to move my contacts to a new phone. BTW, I couldn't get Active Sync to work with this phone on my old XP PC.

Hi Bill, check out this article. It was written for Windows Mobile 5 devices, but it has worked for many using WM6, including myself on many occasions. I suffered the same problems many people have come across.

Brent, Sync Center and Windows Mobile Device Center are two different programs, though they do interact a little. Download WMDC from microsoft. The link is towards the top of the article. You should htne get the correct screens.
The Sync center is more for offline files, and syncing documents.

I have a MotoQ9c and it won't sync. It is recognized and sync centre asked about looking at its folders etc but there are no syncing questions for outlook. I do not get the screens you show. I get the synccentre screen with tasks, view sync partnerships, view sync conflicts, view sync results, set up new syn partnerships on the left side. However, it does not let me set up a new sync partnership.

help!

Tom, try setting up the IMAP connection from the device. IMAP works very diferently to other email protocols. You won't need to go through Outlook and sync via that. You should be able to connect directly to the server from your device. Look out for data fees though if you want to check email on the run. The connection costs can be surprisingly nasty. It is manageable, just don't check for email updates automatically too often. This will of course depend on your data plan.
Cheers

Hello, when setting up WMDC and selecting email, it doesn't allow me access to my IMAP email, just my Personal inbox which is empty. Do you have any ideas? Thanks.
