Windows Mobile: WordNet CE

WordnetCEAs I was growing up, I would go to my parents and ask them how to spell something. They would always tell me to look it up in the dictionary, and they couldn’t see the problem with this!

Anyway with that aside, for anyone who does like using dictionaries, they are always useful to have on hand.

They sell dictionaries that are supposed to be pocket size, but who would? Something that you can actually use is WordNet CE. You can carry a 144000 word dictionary with you everywhere, right on you Windows Mobile device.

WordNet is a free dictionary application that runs on Windows. WordNet CE, is a Windows Mobile application which accesses the same dictionary data as the full version.

With search history, wild-card searches and predictive spelling, this application is quite special, allowing you to find the information you want quickly and easily.

Installation is fairly straight forward, but there are a few steps. You will need to install the PC client first, copy the dictionary to your device and then install WordNet CE. You will also need around 20MB o space on your Windows Mobile device.

I am happy I came across this one. To download this software, and for detailed installation instructions, please visit the WordNet site.

My Dad used to tell me to look things up in the dictionary. This was upsetting to me at the time because I didn’t know how to read.
