IMG News: Out with the old, in with the new

TouchThe phones that have previously been used in the articles of Inspect My Gadget have both gone to gadget heaven. The Nokia N70 and the Ipaq rw6828 are no longer with us. They have served the site well, taking whatever software I have throw at them in their stride.

Both lasted 2 years and will remain a fond memory. They were both great options when I purchased them and they have withstood the test of time well.

So I needed to find a new phone for personal use, that would also be suitable for testing software for this website. The selection of the latest phones in Australia is somewhat limited (iPhone isn’t here yet!).

I ended up going for the modest HTC Touch. The Touch contains a wide range of technologies ideal for testing software as it runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional and it offers good connectivity options such as Bluetooth and Wifi. It’s not the most powerful unit available, but it has a healthy dose of everything, all in a very small package.

I look forward to testing out some of my previous articles to see how compatible they are with WM6, as they were all written using a Windows Mobile 5 device. Now it’s time for me to get back to playing with it it. I can’t get enough of this TouchFLO™ goodness.
