I have had problems with removing partnerships when I started toying with Windows Mobile Devices. It is clear from this sites search queries, that I am not the only one. It is easy once you get the hang of it.
Once you remove a partnership, your device will not lose all its data. This will happen when you set up a new partnership later on, and then you will be asked if you would like to keep the data from your device, or your computer intact.
To remove a partnership, ensure that your device is no longer connected to your computer.
In WMDC:
Click “Mobile Device Settings”
Click “End a Partnership”
You will be given a warning that you are doing something bad and then you will be asked if you want to delete the Synchronisation folder. I don’t delete it as I will use the same folder next time I try to create a partnership.
This is not something that has to be done very often, but there are some circumstances where it is required.

The PDF format is great for sharing documents with family/friends and printers because they retain all the fonts, formatting and layout of the original, but can’t be easily edited - they can be as secure as you want them to be. In fact, if you want any document professionally printed these days, many printers will actually insist on PDFs (some free advice: NEVER give them documents in Microsoft Publisher format - trust me, they will get shirty with you).
A recent IMG Quickie article “Windows Software: PDF Creator” told about a free utility for creating PDFs in Windows, but what about Mac OS X? Fortunately and conveniently, Mac OS X comes with the ability to create PDFs built-in. In fact, you can create a PDF from just about any Mac program around, even if that program doesn’t offer the feature itself.
You access this ability from the Print dialog box - basically, if you can print it, you can PDF it. Click the “PDF” button at the bottom left of the Print dialog box, and you are given a list of options.
Select “Save as PDF”, it’ll ask for a name & location to save your new PDF to, and voila - instant PDF!
You may want to take the time to check out some of the other options; for instance, if you think the PDF is going to be too big, select “Compress PDF”. If you’re security-conscious, you can select “Encrypt PDF”. Or if you want a quick way to create a PDF and then attach it to an email in one fell swoop, you can select “Mail PDF”.

Ubuntu allows you to login automatically, saving you from entering your username and password each time you boot up Ubuntu. This is ideal for home situations, where security is not really as much of an issue as it may be in a workplace.
Click “System”
Click “Administration”
Select “Login Window”

In the “Security” tab, tick “Enable Automatic Login”
Use the pull-down menu to select which username you want to login as.
The next time you restart your computer, you will bypass the login screen allowing you to get straight into the Ubuntu goodness.

The Vista startup sound cannot be changed as you were able to in previous versions of Windows. Microsoft has set a new sound which is part of their branding.
This sound can be annoying if you have a computer which you take to meetings or which is used in presentations, so after much debate, Microsoft has given us the option to disable this sound from playing.
To disable the sound, go to your “Control Panel”
Open up “Sound”
Open the “Sounds” tab
Untick “Play Windows Startup Sound”
I don’t mind them putting in their own branding as other operating systems and mobile phones have had a preset startup sound for years, I am really happy it can be disabled as it is the last thing you want blaring over the speakers at the start of a lecture.

One of the first things you will want to do when you receive your phone is changing the ring tone. While the standard Nokia ring tone isn’t all that bad, it is not as good as your own personalised ring tone.
To change it.
Press the application button
Open up tools
Select profiles
You are able to have a different ring tone for each profile. Open the profile that you would like to change the tone of. In this case we will use the “General” profile.
Select general and select personalised.
Select “Ringing Tone, line 1”
Here you will see a list of ring tones on your phone. Select whichever one you would like to use.
If you would like to use your own ring tone, use your Nokia PC suite to copy your favourite song onto either the internal memory or the memory card. Place it in the “Sound Clips\Tones” folder and your phone will recognise the new file, making it selectable when you want to change your tone. There are a whole heap of supported formats including mp3, so play around and get it just as you would like.
